Julie Sutton

Julie is a river guide, educator, and ceramic artist who has spent much of her life exploring the connection between adventure, creativity, and lifelong learning. She first discovered pottery in high school and continued studying ceramics in college, later saving her rafting tips to purchase her first pottery wheel. After years of balancing seasonal river work with creative pursuits, she recently recommitted to making clay a regular part of her life. Julie is drawn to pottery for many of the same reasons she loves rivers—both require presence, patience, and a willingness to embrace the unexpected. Whether centering clay on the wheel or navigating a river bend, she finds joy in the process, the uncertainty, and the discoveries that unfold along the way.
